Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Residential Support Worker to work full time based in Bournemouth.

The salary for this permanent Residential Support Worker job is up to £23,692.50 - £31,227.30 per annum.

Main duties:

  • Corporate Parenting: Act as a responsible and caring corporate parent by providing a nurturing and supportive environment for children. This includes addressing their emotional, physical, and social needs, ensuring they feel valued, safe, and supported in their day-to-day lives.
  • Daily Living Support: Take an active role in the daily care of children, including preparing and cooking nutritious meals, maintaining a clean and organised living environment, and assisting with homework. Engage in recreational activities that promote physical and mental wellbeing, and encourage the development of hobbies and interests.
  • Safeguarding and Welfare Promotion: Prioritise the safety and wellbeing of children at all times by adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures. Be vigilant in identifying potential risks or signs of harm, and take appropriate action to protect the children’s welfare.
  • Administrative Responsibilities: Ensure that all required documentation and paperwork are completed accurately, promptly, and to a high standard. This includes maintaining detailed records of the children’s progress, health, and daily activities, as well as any incidents or concerns.
  • Health and Wellbeing Support: Accompany and support children and young people during medical appointments, health checks, and other essential services. Advocate for their needs and ensure that they receive the appropriate care and follow-up, helping them to understand and manage their health and wellbeing.

Requirements of this job:

  • A minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience working directly with children, ideally in a residential or care setting.
  • Possession of an NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare or an equivalent qualification is essential.
  • A full, clean driving licence is required, enabling you to transport children safely to appointments, school, and other activities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with children, colleagues, and external professionals.
  • A solid understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.
