What you will do:
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based midwifery care to women throughout pregnancy, during labour, and in the postpartum period.
- Monitor the health and well-being of both the mother and baby, ensuring the delivery of personalised care plans.
- Lead and support junior midwifery staff, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure the delivery of safe and effective care.
- Supervise and assist in the training of new staff, fostering a learning environment within the team.
- Work closely with obstetricians, neonatologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a collaborative approach to patient care.
- Contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings and care planning to ensure holistic support for mothers and babies.
- Educate expectant mothers and their families on antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care, including preparation for birth, infant care, and breastfeeding.
- Provide emotional and psychological support to families, addressing any concerns and offering guidance throughout the maternity journey.
- Ensure midwifery practice complies with national and local guidelines, hospital policies, and the NMC standards.
- Participate in audits, risk assessments, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety in the maternity unit.
