About the Role:
Sanctuary Personnel are currently seeking motivated and enthusiastic Registered Mental Health Nurses to join our client's team on the Adolescent Unit. You will also have the opportunity to work on their adult acute unit, depending on service needs. This service caters primarily to adult private patients and adult OCD patients referred through the NHS.
This unique opportunity allows the successful candidate to gain experience in a multitude of specialist areas, including CAMHS, Adult Acute, Addictions, and specialist OCD fields. You will have the chance to rapidly expand your knowledge and skillset, providing you with an outstanding platform for your career.
You will work in a therapeutic environment that supports patients in moving towards a safe, more independent future and will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills.
You will be part of a large multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, other registered mental health nurses, healthcare assistants, teaching staff, and therapists (including DBT and CBT therapists, a clinical psychologist, a child psychotherapist, and an occupational therapist). You will be involved in the assessment, planning, and implementation of patient care, as well as attending daily multidisciplinary handover meetings, ward rounds, and CPA meetings.
About the Facility:
The adolescent unit consists of one 8-bed ward. The majority of their patients are funded by the NHS and referred from local NHS outpatient Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). They also provide services for adolescents with OCD and private patients. They work with 12 to 17-year-olds presenting with a wide range of mental health problems, with particular specialities in self-harm. Many of their young people have experienced earlier abuse and neglect, leading to attachment difficulties and emotional dysregulation.
They utilise various therapeutic approaches, particularly Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), which is evidence-based for use with self-harm. You will be expected to use DBT skills when working with young people, and they will provide regular on-site training and supervision.
They also support young people with severe Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) or Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) and will offer training on-site for working with young people with these conditions.
In addition, they have recently opened a mixed Acute Adult ward with 14 beds (9 for males and 5 for females). Led by two Consultants, this ward offers a unique experience and learning opportunities for both experienced and newly qualified nurses and healthcare workers. Most patients are sectioned under the Mental Health Act, providing invaluable experience with Tribunals, Managers' hearings, and keeping up-to-date with Mental Health Act knowledge. Patients receive their treatment and are regularly reviewed in weekly ward rounds to ensure they spend no longer than necessary in the hospital.
Their facility is committed to ensuring a positive experience for both patients and staff and is on a continuous improvement journey, aiming for outstanding care every day.
