Sanctuary Personnel are looking for a Public Protection Officer to work with Havering Council. This is a full-time position, and we are paying £40 Paye and £50.34 umbrella per hour for this role.

The role:

In this role you will be investigating complaints regarding environmental protection and statutory nuisance. You will have experience in at least one of the following areas noise/ acoustics, statutory nuisance, air quality or contaminated land. Your work will cover parts of these aspects and include providing comments on licensing and planning applications.

As a regulatory role you will carry out appropriate enforcement, respond to complaints of nuisance, and/or air quality and/or contaminated land depending on your specific specialism. You will need to serve notices as necessary and be expected to attend court and other hearings to provide evidence and lead on prosecutions under the council's enforcement policy.

Key Responsibilities:

To respond to and fully investigate reactive request for service relevant to Public Protection and own areas of competency as defined within your PDR and 121’s.

To carry out proactive work such as inspections and sampling programmes

To support Projects as agreed with a Public Protection Manager

To achieve agreed performance targets for the service and individually as defined within service and corporate plans; and PDR’s/121’s.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: GCSEs A-C or equivalent including at least English and Maths.
    Educated to A Level standard or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 2+ years working within a similar role. 
  • Compliance: Current Standard DBS check. 
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37 hours p/w.

Mandatory: Full drivers’ licence, own vehicle, and business insurance. Desirable: Registered Environmental Health Practitioner or relevant professional qualification
