Location: Leeds

Salary: £55K-£60K dependent upon experience
Shifts: 7 nights on, 14 nights off (8pm-8am)

Are you a veterinary surgeon with a passion for emergency care, advanced procedures, and continuous professional development? Sanctuary Personnel is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Night Vet to join our dynamic night team.

Advanced Practice:

The night team regularly performs challenging procedures, with ample training and support provided for you to master techniques including:

  • Oesophageal tube placements
  • Seldinger chest drain placements
  • Silicone abdominal peritoneal drains
  • Pig tail urinary catheters
  • TFAST/AFAST
  • Endoscopy
  • Negative pressure wound therapy
  • Urinary catheterisation

Additionally, the night team frequently manages caesareans, pyometras, exploratory laparotomies (including enterotomies and enterectomies), and handles complex medicine cases such as Addisonian crises, ketoacidotic diabetic cases, and severe pancreatitis.

Hospital Facilities:

The hospital is equipped with the latest technology to provide the best in emergency care, including:

  • Laboratory: Procyte haematology, Catalyst Dx, EPOC, and coags (APTT/PT)
  • Diagnostic Tools: Angio/Felv/FIV/Giardia/Parvo/Lepto testing, transfusion medicine, lipid panels, digital X-ray, and advanced ultrasound with Doppler
  • Imaging: Flexible video gastroscope, bronchoscope, video otoscope, rigid scope, and visiting CT for follow-up investigations
  • Surgery: Gen11 vessel sealing, Valleylab monopolar/bipolar, Ligaclips, and E20 sterilisation
  • Dental: Dental X-ray with CR7 developer
  • Monitoring: Multiparameter monitors including ECG, Capnography, Temperature, SpO2, BP, and Doppler BP

Requirements of the Out Of Hours Veterinary Surgeon:

  • Qualified Veterinary Surgeon with relevant certifications.
  • Registration with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A compassionate approach to pet care.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Experience in performing a variety of veterinary procedures.
  • Flexibility to handle emergency situations.
