Purpose of Post:
The Adult Social Care Division aims to enhance the independence, inclusion, and well-being of all adults with social care needs. This involves empowering individuals to control their lives, live safely and fulfilled, actively participate in their communities, and access support for independence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct professional assessments focusing on equipment/adaptations and potentially carers assessments.
- Provide guidance and support to Social Care Assessors and Rehabilitation Officers.
- Influence future services towards independence and rehabilitation models.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Complete holistic assessments based on eligibility criteria, including statutory duties under relevant legislation.
- Coach and mentor unqualified staff in assessment processes and support planning.
- Undertake research on service options and contribute to strategic plans.
Dimensions:
- Supervisory Management: Responsible for coaching and mentoring up to 4 unqualified staff.
- Financial Resources: Contribute to support and care arrangements within budget constraints.

Person Specification:
- Experience: Substantial post-qualification experience in social/health care. Experience in complex case management and collaborative working.
- Skills/Abilities: Self-motivated, able to manage competing priorities, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Equality Issues: Understanding of equality legislation and integration of policies into service delivery.
- Specialist Knowledge: In-depth understanding of social care legislation, OT best practices, and relevant regulations.
- Education and Training: Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent with a commitment to continuous professional development.
- Other Requirements: Ability to work flexible hours, visit clients' homes, and hold a clean driving license.
