The salary for this permanent Head of Early Years job is £46,000 per annum.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Leadership Support: Assist in overseeing the day-to-day operations and management of the early years setting.
  • Staff Supervision: Lead, mentor, and support early years staff, ensuring high standards of care and education.
  • Curriculum Implementation: Support the planning and delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, fostering a creative and engaging learning environment.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the setting meets all statutory requirements, including OFSTED standards, health and safety regulations, and safeguarding policies.
  • Parental Engagement: Build strong relationships with parents and carers, providing regular updates on their child’s progress and addressing any concerns.
  • Quality Improvement: Assist in monitoring and evaluating practices, implementing improvements to maintain the highest standards.
  • Operational Duties: Manage administrative tasks, including staff rotas, attendance records, and inventory management.

Requirements of the Head of Early Years:

  • Minimum Level 3 Childcare Qualification: NVQ, CACHE, or equivalent (Level 5 or above preferred).
  • Experience: Proven experience in a managerial role within an early years setting.
  • Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of the EYFS framework and OFSTED requirements.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
  • First Aid: Paediatric First Aid certification is essential.
  • Safeguarding: Thorough knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
