About the Role

Sanctuary Personnel are looking for an Optometrist with at least 12 months of post-registration experience and current GOC registration to join our client's team. This role will allow you to delve into the clinical side of optometry, providing independent eye care and assessing patients for cataract surgery. You'll help ensure patients understand the risks and benefits of surgery and offer reassurance throughout their journey.

You will start with seeing between 23-25 patients per clinic day, and once you are comfortable with cataract consultation clinics, YAG laser training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and counsel patients for cataract surgery, discussing expected outcomes.
  • Ensure patients understand the risks and benefits of surgery, addressing their needs with a considerate manner.
  • Provide reassurance from the beginning to the end of the patient journey.
  • Undertake post-operative management with the support of medical staff.
  • Receive full training to perform YAG laser procedures.
  • As a Clinical Optometrist, you will collaborate with a wider clinical team to deliver safe, effective, and efficient clinical care. Your primary focus will be on patient-centric care, providing independent eye care, and assessing the need for cataract surgery.

  • A GOC registered Optometrist with at least 12 months post-registration experience.
  • Motivated to develop, with a keen interest in the clinical side of optometry.
  • Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills.
