What you will do:
- Manage and develop a large team or smaller sub-teams of professional and para-professional staff. Focus on efficient service delivery aligning with service objectives and deliverables.
- Set clear objectives and targets for staff, ensuring alignment with overall service goals and statutory requirements.
- Provide leadership in recruitment, staff supervision, performance management, training, and development.
- Control and manage allocated budgets, ensuring operations are cost-effective and meet financial targets.
- Coordinate and integrate activities across teams, resolve operational and complex issues, and anticipate future challenges.
- Lead and scope impactful projects for the service area, delivering on-time and on-budget.
- Identify, recommend, and implement improvements to operations, enhancing performance and efficiency.
- Contribute to service planning, focusing on workforce planning and future service development.
- Cultivate strong relationships and networks, facilitating effective collaboration and improving multi-agency service delivery.
Knowledge / Skills / Experience required:
- Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience.
- Strong understanding of service area practices, policies, and procedures.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, and best practices.
- Expertise in the theory and principles of the discipline.
- Awareness of departmental and council objectives.
- Extensive experience in the service area with broader contextual knowledge.
- Proven leadership in staff management, coaching, and development.
- Experience managing budgets, forecasts, and resources.
- Skilled in improving procedures and contributing to policy development.
- Ability to set objectives, analyze data, and drive improvements.
- Strong planning, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Effective negotiation and influence to achieve outcomes.
