What you will do:
- Manage and coordinate the Emergency Duty Social Work Team to deliver high-quality services to children, young people, their families, and vulnerable adults.
- Deploy staffing resources effectively to meet professional standards and statutory timescales.
- Monitor team performance against key performance indicators and ensure improvements where necessary.
- Provide supervision, set targets and guide team members, ensuring risks are effectively assessed and addressed.
- Audit and review case files to ensure excellence in practice standards, taking corrective measures as needed.
- Authorize and review case recommendations, taking personal responsibility for these decisions.
- Develop systems and processes to meet service expectations and conduct regular monitoring.
- Prepare reports and contribute to the annual business service plan.
- Handle complaints and collaborate with other team managers to strengthen inter-team relationships.
- Manage budgets effectively and make financial decisions that ensure value for the council and clients.
- Oversee recruitment, training, and performance management within the team.
- Ensure compliance with legislation related to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, maintaining high health and safety standards for staff.
- Participate in the duty rota to provide emergency social work services.
