Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Social Worker within the Initial Response & Safeguarding Team to work full time based in Bury, Greater Manchester.

Location: Bury, Greater Manchester

Working Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £33,024 - £41,418 per annum

Main Duties as a Social Worker:

  • Client Support & Assessment: Deliver professional social work services to children and families, adhering to the Children Act. Conduct thorough assessments of children who may have experienced or are at risk of significant harm. Seek management and legal advice to secure necessary orders for child protection.
  • Report Writing & Court Representation: Prepare detailed, high-quality reports for various contexts, including court proceedings. Represent the Local Authority in court, providing verbal and written evidence as needed, and account for the Authority's actions in both public and private hearings.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Engage with service users in diverse settings, including their homes and office environments, to provide effective social work services. Attend and contribute to child protection conferences, statutory reviews, core group meetings, and departmental meetings professionally.
  • Case Management & Teamwork: Manage client records in compliance with statutory and departmental guidelines. Represent the Local Authority in cases transferred between authorities. Collaborate with other social workers and professionals as directed by the Fieldwork Team Manager.
  • Planning & Implementation: Contribute to the development and execution of care plans for children in need, including those under child protection, looked-after children, and family support schemes.
  • Team Participation & Coverage: Support and enhance the social work team’s effectiveness by participating in team meetings and providing cover as required. Take part in the Social Work duty rota and assist with organizing and administering social work tasks.
  • Advocacy & Supervision: Advocate on behalf of clients with other local authority departments and relevant agencies, ensuring alignment with local authority policies. Engage in supervision sessions, adhering to feedback and action plans, and act as chair in child protection meetings when assigned by management.
  • Safeguarding & Compliance: Maintain a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Ensure adherence to departmental, council, and government policies and procedures.
  • Information & Planning: Provide information to support departmental, Department of Health, and other official planning, implementation, and monitoring activities.

Key Requirements for this role:

  • Possess a degree in Social Work (such as CQSW, CSS, DiPSW, or an equivalent qualification).
  • Must be registered with Social Work England.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Children Act 1989.
  • Thorough understanding of the developmental stages of children and adolescents.
  • Clear understanding of strategies and principles for permanence planning for children.
