Pay Rate: £42 per hour (assignment rate)
Contract: Locum, 3-Months

Duties:
- Provide regular supervision to all service delivery staff including the provision of written supervision notes and annual appraisals
- Share responsibility for the allocation and management of the team’s work, taking into account professional accountability, individual skills, expertise and developmental needs
- Ensure that deadlines and targets for the work of the team are met including the timely presentation of court reports
- Maintain regular team meetings as a means of developing the team into a cohesive and productive unit
- Manage devolved budgets within financial boundaries and lead in the preparation of external funding bids and the management of these
- Share responsibility for the training and development of team members
- Manage within a multi–disciplinary service in a way that builds on individual agency strengths, develops commitment to the shared objectives, legislation and guidance covering the work of the EYJS, and encourages innovative new practice in service delivery
- Share responsibility with your colleague managers for performance management within the team ensuring that Evidence Based Practice, National Standards, AssetPlus and the appropriate use of IT systems etc. are embedded in to the team’s practice
- Develop and manage specific areas of practice e.g. transitions, custody/remand, public protection (high risk), safeguarding, case management or priority areas identified, developing new initiatives as required
- Contribute to Safeguarding of children and young people and the protection of the public in respect of dangerous/high risk offenders
- Promote the participation of children and young people, families and victims within the service and enable their views and feedback to be taken into account in the delivery and development of the service
- Assist in the development of policies and take a lead in practice development
- Ensure that all monitoring and evaluation systems and information exchange protocols are adhered to
- Contribute to the production, implementation and review of the annual Youth Justice Plan, translating these into practice
- Provide regular management information to the Head of Service, implementing, monitoring and reviewing the delivery of evidence led and intelligence led practice
- Deputise as necessary for the Head of Service and work outside of general working hours, providing evening and weekend management cover on a rota basis
- Represent and promote the team to partners, courts and other stakeholders within the local Community
- Be alert to changes in legislation, practice development and new research findings that are likely to affect the work of the team
- Share responsibility for the maintenance of effective partnership arrangement including posts shared with other East Berkshire EYJSs
- Promote anti-discriminatory practice within the team and ensure that services and resources are appropriate to the needs of the diverse communities of Slough
- Conduct investigations into complaints from partners, members of the public and children and young people, seeking resolution wherever possible
- Constructively manage any disputes within the team
- Effectively manage poor or under-performance, initiating and following through informal and formal processes as appropriate
- Update the Head of Service on developments within the team and locally
- Any other duties that the Head of Service from time to time determines
Requirements of the Team Manager:
- Degree or equivalent in social work
- Current Social Work England registration
- Significant frontline experience in Children’s Services
