What you will do:
- Deliver person-centred care by promoting patient and carer involvement in care planning from admission to discharge.
- Ensure clinical practice aligns with the Care Programme Approach.
- Identify and address personal learning and training needs through appraisal and development plans.
- Participate in clinical audit and governance activities under the guidance of the Ward Manager/Senior Charge Nurse.
- Conduct risk assessments and provide individualized care plans as the named nurse for a group of patients.
- Manage and coordinate shifts, sharing vital information with the multidisciplinary team.
- Use resources effectively and manage junior staff delegation.
- Maintain professional therapeutic relationships with patients, carers, and colleagues.
Organisational Arrangements:
Accountable to: Nurse Manager.
Reports to: Senior Charge Nurse / LIDTS.
Responsible for: Supervising Health Care Assistants / Senior Health Care Assistants.
Role Summary:
As a Mental Health Nurse, you’ll plan and deliver patient care, acting as a named nurse to ensure mental health clustering accuracy during admissions, discharges, and reviews. This role encompasses professional development, clinical governance, team management, and mentoring responsibilities to ensure the highest standard of care and compliance with all Trust and NMC regulations.
