Are you a dedicated and enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Surgeon seeking a fulfilling career opportunity? Sanctuary Personnel is excited to present a fantastic permanent Registered Veterinary Surgeon position with one of the UK's largest veterinary retailers based in Leeds. This role is primarily a full-time day vet position, which should interest candidates with existing UK work experience, looking to combine their standard general practice/first-opinion care, with on-site hospitalisation, referral and its advanced Certificate holder veterinary support.

The salary for this role is dependant on experience.

The team: There are 70 members of our team, which include 13 day and 3-night vets, day and night nurse teams and supporting day and night VCAs.

Hours: This is reflected by the 35hr Mon-Fr, 4-day week) rota:

  • 1x general surgery shift
  • 1x consulting shift (sick pet, 30min consults as standard)
  • 2x 3pm-10pm Evening Inpatient and ECC shift

Also includes 1 in 4 weekend ECC shift (sat and sun, no sole charge)

You will be expected to deliver during their evening inpatient/ECC shifts:

  • Oesophageal tube placements
  • Seldinger Chest Drain placements
  • Silicone Abdominal Peritoneal Drains
  • Pig tail urinary catheters
  • TFAST AFAST
  • Endoscoscopy
  • Negative Pressure Wound Therapy
  • Urinary Catheterisation

On evening inpatient/ECC shifts, the candidate would also regularly perform: caesareans, pyometra, exploratory laparotomy with enterotomy and enterectomy. On the medicine side we see many Addisonian, Ketoacidotic diabetic cases and sever pancreatitis cases.

 

What we're looking for from Veterinary Surgeon applicants:

  • Degree in Veterinary Medicine from a recognised university
  • Membership in the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS)
  • Previous experience as a veterinary surgeon is highly desirable
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary best practices and medical regulations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact positively with clients and their pets
  • Ability to handle a variety of animals safely and effectively
  • Willingness to continually upgrade knowledge and skills in veterinary medicine
  • Be a dynamic and proactive Veterinary Surgeon with solid medical and surgical skills
  • Experience in ECC is preferred.
