About the Role:

We are looking for a compassionate and committed Qualified Independent Domestic Violence Adviser (IDVA) to support individuals at high risk of domestic abuse in Gloucester. In this crucial position, you will offer both practical and emotional assistance, working closely with professionals from social care, the police, and health services to minimise risk and enhance safety for victims. You will also serve as the victim’s advocate at the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC), ensuring their needs and concerns are clearly conveyed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a swift, responsive support service with excellent customer care, aligned with the service’s values and objectives.
  • Provide helpline support to domestic abuse victims and external agencies.
  • Evaluate client risk using the DASH (Domestic Abuse, Stalking and Honour-Based Violence) risk assessment tool.
  • Collaborate effectively within a multi-agency environment, working alongside professionals from social care, law enforcement, and health services.
  • Communicate information accurately and clearly, both verbally and through written reports, in multi-agency meetings and child protection conferences.
  • Carry out thorough risk assessments and review risks regularly, following established guidelines.
  • Help clients achieve agreed support outcomes, empowering them to make informed choices and decisions.
  • Complete specific support tasks identified in the support plan, as instructed by the management team.
  • Encourage clients to participate in the development of the service and engage in consultation and feedback initiatives.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A recognised IDVA qualification.
  • Demonstrable experience supporting domestic abuse victims, particularly those at high risk.
  • Strong knowledge of legal remedies available to domestic abuse victims and the ability to advocate on their behalf.
  • Capability to manage a caseload of clients with high support needs.
  • Proficiency in IT systems, including email, Microsoft Office, and other relevant tools.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to present information sensitively and clearly in both written and verbal formats.
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work efficiently within a multi-agency framework.
