Sanctuary Personnel are currently seeking a PSHE Tutor to join our client's dynamic team. 

Duties:

  • Plan, prepare, deliver, and evaluate courses for learners as outlined in the contract of employment, adhering to the agreed hours and weeks.
  • Provide a detailed syllabus/course outline and an initial scheme of work for each course prior to commencement, and maintain these documents as part of the course files.
  • Prepare and make available appropriate plans and learning materials for each session in advance for monitoring or lesson observations, and maintain these as part of the course documentation files.
  • Offer subject-specific information, advice, and support to learners as part of teaching duties, including guidance on progression within Martec or at other institutions.
  • Deliver Information, Advice, and Guidance to learners within the classroom, provide additional support as needed, and record these interactions on the pastoral log.
  • Monitor, mark, and assess learners’ work in line with Martec's marking policy, maintain appropriate records, and prepare learners for exams and accreditation, aiming to return work within 10 days.
  • Accurately mark the register at the start of each session and use it in case of a fire or other emergency.
  • Monitor and evaluate courses, provide feedback to the Centre Head and/or Curriculum Managers as requested, and take responsibility for the quality of teaching.
  • Ensure the appropriate and safe use of all equipment and facilities.
  • Adhere to and support Martec’s policies, including those on Equality & Diversity, Health & Safety, and Quality Assurance.
  • Engage in continuous professional and curriculum development, participate in relevant training, and stay updated on subject matter and national/local developments in education.
  • Support invigilation for other subject areas and participate in invigilation training.
  • Perform other duties as required by management from time to time.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • In-depth knowledge and substantial experience in the specified subject area.
  • Teaching qualification* appropriate for the Post-16 Sector, or willingness to undergo further training.
  • Experience teaching, training, or working with students aged 16+.
  • Understanding of the principles of post-16 education, including planning, delivery, assessment, and evaluation of learning.
  • Awareness of diverse learning strategies and teaching methods suitable for various ability levels.
  • Relevant trade experience in the automotive repair environment.
  • Effective oral and written communication, numeracy, and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with staff and learners (at least Level 2 or willingness to obtain the equivalent qualification).
