Sanctuary Health is currently looking for a dedicated Band 5 Assistant Clinical Psychologist to work full-time in Wandsworth, within the CAMHS. This role is via the South West London & St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust.
The pay rate for this locum Assistant Clinical Psychologist job is £20 per hour (Assignment rate) and is a 1-month contract.
Job Summary:
To support and enhance the provision of professional psychological care of children and young people through the provision of group or individual work, support to staff teams, audit and research under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist and lead nurse, working according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist and lead nurse and within the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.
To assist in the conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.
Help design and implement teaching and support intervention, for both the child, young person and his/her carers.
All clinical work will be carried out under supervision and with the agreement of the post holder’s supervisor.
To assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a client’s problems, under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist, in both community and in-patient/residential settings.
To assist in the coordination and running of therapeutic and/or psychoeducation groups, or care planning.
To attend and contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings, including referral, clinical and review meetings.
To work with other staff to assess clients in various settings and review their care in preparation for multi-disciplinary reviews.
Requirements of the Assistant Clinical Psychologist:
Be a HCPC registered Psychologist
Have a relevant qualification
Recent psychology experience is essential
An upper second class honours degree or higher in psychology
Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
High level communication skills (written and verbal) including an ability to communicate and work in settings in which the atmosphere may be highly emotive
An ability to communicate sensitive information to clients, carers and colleagues in a way that addresses psychological resistance
An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental health problems or other disabilities
An ability to apply existing psychological knowledge to a mental health context
