Sanctuary Personnel is currently seeking an experienced Band 7 ACTS Specialist Practitioner (RMN) to take on a new locum opportunity based in Wembley.

Location: Wembley

Contract Type: Locum, 3-month contract

Pay Rate: £30.00 - £33.40 per hour (assignment rate)

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week

Duties:

  • Work as a Care Coordinator within the ACTS, exercising autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of a defined caseload of complex cases
  • Undertake and lead specialist assessments, within a variety of hospital and community settings, to make appropriate clinical decisions regarding referral for inpatient admission or intensive community support
  • Assessment of capacity to make decisions regarding treatment and liaising with AMHPs regarding legal framework for admission
  • Use a care programme approach model to plan and deliver patient centred co-ordinated care-packages
  • Working collaboratively with the young person and their family
  • Provide crisis intervention, individual and family interventions, and group work, based on NICE guidelines and clinical good practice
  • Design, deliver and review crisis intervention/safety care plans with young people and their families in accordance with NHS and professional standards
  • Work with highly complex young people and their families, making appropriate formulations and providing interventions or making recommendations
  • Make decisions about risk assessment and management and to provide specialist safety advice for other professionals
  • Work as part of the MDT, participating in the referral and allocation process
  • Identify, and respond to, safeguarding concerns using a good working knowledge of safeguarding practice and procedures
  • Attend the team’s weekly care planning meeting to ensure the safe running of services, adherence to complex care plans and enable effective communication within the team and share relevant information as required
  • Take responsibility for initiating and co-ordinating multi-agency reviews and conferences and to contribute a specialist mental health perspective to discussions
  • Develop professional networks, maintaining good relationships and communication with other professionals, agencies and departments
  • Communicating effectively with clients, referrers and other agencies, verbally and in writing, adhering to Policy regarding confidentiality and data protection
  • Communicate highly emotive and complex information in a skilled and sensitive manner
  • Prepare reports as required, including assessment and discharge summaries, letters to GPs, CPA reports and referrals to other specialist services and contribution to reports for commissioners
  • Plan and prioritise the workload effectively

Requirements of the ACTS Specialist Practitioner:

  • A comprehensive knowledge of child development, child and adolescent mental health disorders and evidence based practice
  • Current UK Professional registration – e.g. HCPC, NMC, SWE, UKCP and relevant experience as per the duties of the post
  • Diploma/BSc in relevant clinical areas
  • Additional qualification in a treatment intervention or modality e.g. DBT, Systemic Psychotherapy, Family Therapy, CBT, TF- CBT,EMDR, NET, Psychodynamic /psychoanalytic psychotherapy
  • Full and current UK driving license
  • Post qualification and registration experience of working with adolescents / young people
  • Experience of working with young people with highly complex mental health needs, high levels of emotional distress and risk-taking behaviours, including self- harm and attempted suicide
  • Experience of specialist assessment and treatment of young people with serious mental health problems who are in crisis
  • Experience of undertaking risk assessment and risk management
  • Experience in the delivery of psychological therapy
  • Experience of maintaining a high degree of professionalism
  • Experience of working within both inpatient and community CAMHS
  • Experience of working with young people with emerging personality disorder
  • Experience of working within an ethnically and racially diverse community
  • Experience of supervising junior staff
  • Experience of providing specialist advice to other professionals
  • Experience of providing teaching and training
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience of implementing and monitoring standards of care
  • Ability to travel effectively between locations across Central and North West London on a daily basis
