The salary for this permanent Lead Occupational Therapist job is £43,742 - £50,056 per annum.

Main Duties:

 

  • Leadership and Culture: Lead the QEF Care and Rehabilitation Centre Occupational Therapy team, fostering an inclusive, supportive, professional, and progressive culture focused on delivering high-quality, safe, and person-centered care.
  • Daily Operations: Manage the day-to-day organisation of the Occupational Therapy services, ensuring clients receive timely, appropriate, and effective treatment and discharge planning.
  • Autonomous Practice: Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients with neurological injuries, illnesses, and impairments, including complex cases, to develop problem lists and holistic treatment plans.
  • Clinical Reasoning: Use advanced clinical reasoning, evidence-based practice, current NICE guidelines, and clinical expertise to determine appropriate rehabilitation programs and discharge/continuing care plans.
  • Team Oversight: Oversee the quality and efficiency of the OT team's clinical resources, providing support to less experienced OTs.
  • Clinical Caseload: Manage your own designated clinical caseload of clients and maintain up-to-date professional documentation according to professional and departmental standards.
  • Client Monitoring: Assess and monitor clients to progress them through their rehabilitation, aiming for optimal recovery and retrieval of physical and cognitive function.
  • Report Writing: Effectively complete required reports for discharge or funding purposes.
  • Supervision and Management: Supervise, teach, and manage junior Occupational Therapy staff, including assistants and students.

 

Requirements of the Lead Occupational Therapist:

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • Additional training or qualifications relevant to neuro-rehabilitation.
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Post-qualification experience in working with physical disabilities and neurological rehabilitation.
  • Experience in managing complex physical conditions.
