Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Head of Adult Safeguarding within the Adult Community & Social Care Service to work full time based in Guernsey.

The salary for this permanent Head of Adult Safeguarding job is up to £80,716per annum.

Main duties:

  • By working with Safeguarding Professionals including the Director of Quality, Safety, Improvement and Safeguarding, Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children and Adults, Speak Up Guardian and Designated Nurse for Safeguarding and other Safeguarding professionals, ensure the delivery of a comprehensive vision for the continued development of Adult Safeguarding within HSC.
  • Within the values of care ensure Adult Safeguarding is embedded into the daily practice of all work with vulnerable adults.
  • Support the Associate Directors in developing and monitoring Adult Safeguarding to meet all the required education/training requirements.
  • Ensure continuous assessment of clinical and organisational risk in relation to adult safeguarding matters and escalate these in a timely manner.
  • Provide specialised and complex advice and support staff regarding all practices of adult safeguarding.
  • Take the lead responsibility to standardise and ensure that Adult Safeguarding investigations within HSC are managed robustly, within clear timescales, shared with families appropriately and based on best evidence.
  • Provide specialised and complex advice and support to staff regarding all practice of adults safeguarding.
  • Ensure effective, timely communication both internally and externally, which compliments multi-disciplinary working.
  • To provide expert advice clearly and concisely to a wide-ranging workforce on all aspects of adult safeguarding where matters can be highly complex, sensitive, and emotive.
  • Support staff in implementing changes resulting from new practice initiatives, research, audit, and reviews and monitor outcomes.
  • Provide operational leadership across HSC by creating an adult safeguarding service in Adult Social Care that is effective and accountable.
  • Provide approachable leadership that communicates highly complex situations in a manner that breaks down safeguarding barriers and promotes a culture of learning and empowering all staff.
  • Direct line management of the Safeguarding Practitioners including the management, development and appraisals of individuals within the Adult Safeguarding team.
  • Develop and empower all members of the Adult Safeguarding Team to perform to high standards and embed safeguarding into day-to-day practice.

Requirements of a Head of Adult Safeguarding job:

  • A social Work Qualification or equivalent.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation.
  • Registered or eligible for registration.
  • Experience in a Manager/Supporting Manager role.
