Sanctuary Personnel is inviting applications for a permanent, full-time Consultant Psychiatrist position with our client. They are looking for candidates with experience in General Adult Psychiatry, Later Life Psychiatry, or Neuropsychiatry.

They provide a spectrum of neuropsychiatric services to adults with serious and enduring mental health needs such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Huntington’s Diseases, as well as early-onset dementias, schizophrenia, and mood disorders. They have a 123-bed in-patient mental health service registered as an approved centre with the Mental Health Commission. Role Summary:

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will lead a multi-disciplinary clinical team, ensuring the highest standards of clinical care are planned, delivered, and evaluated. You will have overall responsibility for:

  • Providing psychiatric services to patients and residents.
  • Supporting the development of Clinical Governance and implementing strategic and operational plans.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Delivering efficient, effective, and economic clinical services within a defined budget.
  • Providing teaching, research, and academic support in collaboration with educational facilities.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Clinical, Leadership & Operational:

  • Participate in development and undertake all duties and functions pertinent to the Consultant’s area of competence.
  • Work collaboratively with the Clinical Director to support operational and strategic plans.
  • Advise on clinical priorities and participate in strategic development discussions.
  • Ensure delivery of positive patient and resident outcomes.
  • Manage clinical team members and liaise with colleagues to ensure coordinated activities.
  • Develop innovative ways of delivering clinical services.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE and Mental Health Commission requirements.
  • Maintain positive relationships with external partners, including Health Service Executive, Private Health Insurers, and Academic Institutions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of statutory information requirements.
  • Facilitate maintenance of professional clinical competence and foster an inclusive working style.
  • Participate in performance management and maintain the highest standards of clinical effectiveness.
  • Lead on Quality Improvement, Audits, and Service Evaluations.
  • Maintain a patient-safety focus and ensure professional competence and development.

Teaching, Learning & Research:

  • Assist with collaborative teaching and training programmes.
  • Promote research activity and teaching in accordance with company strategy.

Person Specification:

  • Full registration in the Specialist Register (Psychiatrist) of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland or entitlement to be so registered.
  • Registered as a general adult psychiatrist with a sub-specialised interest in either Psychiatry of Later Life or Neuropsychiatry desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and develop clinical services.
  • Solid clinical experience and strong knowledge of Clinical Governance.
  • Ability to teach, manage, and support the education of medical students and staff.
  • Knowledge and experience of health, safety, and statutory regulations affecting a healthcare organisation.
  • Ability to deliver core contracted hours and undertake on call as a member of a rota.
