Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a statutory social work service to children, young people, and their families/carers, including assessment, intervention, case planning, and review.
  • Maintain accurate case records and ensure transparency and accountability in all documentation.
  • Advise service users of their rights to access records and the complaints procedure.
  • Prepare case reports and correspondence for various stakeholders, including conferences, court, and other agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant policies, procedures, guidance, and legislation.
  • Conduct duty work as required and develop strong relationships with relevant agencies and organisations.
  • Actively engage in supervision sessions and professional development opportunities.

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualified social worker with current HCPC registration.
  • Experience in statutory social work within family support and safeguarding.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant child protection legislation and procedures.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage cases independently, with an emphasis on professionalism and safeguarding.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity, equality, and inclusivity in all work interactions.

Reports To: Team Manager

Main Purpose of the Job: To provide a high-quality statutory social work service to children, young people, and families/carers, ensuring effective assessments, interventions, case planning, and reviews in line with the team’s objectives.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Manage social work tasks on assigned cases, including short-term assessments and reviews.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive case reports for use by multi-agency teams.
  • Prioritise diversity and equality in all community interactions.
  • Participate in team duty systems and collaborate with external agencies.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety protocols, ensuring the safety of all team members and service users.
  • Contribute to performance evaluations and participate actively in training sessions.
