Supporting our community in 2022
Over the past year, we’ve been working hard to make a difference. As a result, thanks to the generosity of our amazing colleagues, we’ve been able to raise £7,523 for charity and couldn’t be prouder! Here are a few highlights…
Our payroll giving scheme:
Being a sizeable company means that our monthly payroll donations soon add up. So much so that we raised almost £3,000 from payroll giving alone throughout 2022. In the last six months, this has allowed us to send much-needed funds to:
Ukraine Crisis Appeal, via the British Red Cross

Stepping up for Macmillan Cancer Support
In honour of her late grandfather, Compliance Administrator Kelsey Newell walked the Dedham Vale Mighty Hike for Macmillan Cancer Support, raising a grand total of £1,250.
As a man who enjoyed connecting with his community and loved being in the outdoors, a 14-mile hike through the Dedham Vale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty seemed only fitting!
As well as many of Sanctuary’s staff giving generously to the cause, we’re delighted to say that £170 was donated from our August payroll donation programme.
Getting muddy for Ormiston Families
In October, Associate Director Alex Blackwell and Recruitment Consultant Reece Golding took part the Suffolk Whole Hog to raise money for local charity Ormiston Families. This involved 5 miles of over 30 obstacles, and plenty of mud along the way! Including Sanctuary’s contribution of £184, their grand total came to £352.
A month later, a friend of one of our recruitment consultants ran his first marathon in aid of Ormiston Families, and we were pleased to be able to donate £174.
Our ongoing partnership with this fantastic charity means we also have the occasional pleasure of welcoming them into our office and donating our boardroom space for the day so they can run their training sessions.
Caring for sick children in Tanzania
Elena is a Children’s Student Nurse completing her final year and is due to be volunteering in Tanzania with Work the World. This will involve working alongside health professionals caring for sick children throughout the country's hospitals, orphanages, and schools. It’s no wonder her friend and Recruitment Consultant Jasmine Burman was eager to make her our sponsored cause of the month for October, contributing to her impressive total so far of £3,132.
If you’d like to donate, you can do so here.
Keeping families warm this winter
FIND’s foodbank provides food parcels and personal care items to people who are going through crisis. Every week, volunteers sort donated food, create food parcels, and deliver them to individuals and families experiencing poverty.
With the generous support of our employees, we collected a selection of food and toiletries to donate to the fantastic FIND Foodbank in Ipswich, as well as 57 hot water bottles courtesy of Sanctuary.
Giving local children the best start
Home Start is a fantastic local charity offering practical and emotional support to struggling families throughout Suffolk. They recruit and train volunteers to visit families at home with the vision that every child in Suffolk is given the best start in life.
In December, our staff raised £542 for them, alongside a selection of children's games and puzzles. Our donations will go towards recruitment of volunteers and their training, expenses for home visits, food, or nappies if needed by families.
Donating gifts for Christmas
To spread some festive cheer, we wanted to give back to the local community as part of our gift to clients. We donated a selection of toys and games to Lidl Bear's Toy Bank in partnership with Neighbourly to help to put a smile on a child's face.
Supporting more great charities
As a small token of appreciation to our candidates, we ran a referral competition in addition to our existing 'recommend a friend' scheme. There were four prizes up for grabs, with a charitable donation of £2,250 distributed among the winners’ following chosen charities:
Alzheimer’s Society, on behalf of Louise Hodson
The Osborne Trust, on behalf of Claire Roberts
Orphans in Need, on behalf of Jahangir Hussain
ACCI Resource Centre, on behalf of Portia Tsvangirai
And finally, thank you to every single one of our employees. Together we make a difference.
