Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Supervising Social Worker within the Fostering Team to work Full Time for Synergy Fostering.

The salary for this permanent Supervising Social Worker job is up to £47,00 per annum.

Main duties:

  • To recruit prospective foster carers to provide high quality foster care for children, undertaking initial phone call, initial visits and preparation activities, followed by thorough assessment in accordance with best practice and legislation – and always with safeguarding and child welfare as the priority.
  • To problem-solve issues and advise and support carers in finding solutions to problems they experience in working with young people during placements.
  • To participate in, and undertake actions within, Synergy Fostering Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures and complaints procedures, ensuring any safeguarding concerns are addressed straight away, the Registered Manager is informed immediately and relevant agencies notified.
  • To work alongside foster carers who are subject to complaints or child protection procedures.
  • To develop and facilitate Foster Carer Support Groups/network in conjunction with team colleagues.
  • To undertake out of hours support to foster carers and placement services on a rota basis with other fostering staff.
  • To undertake placement agreement and review agreement meetings and to ensure these occur for all children in placement and that where support services are provided to a child, that these are of a professional standard and in keeping with Synergy values, Policies and practices.
  • To undertake development and training in keeping with the role of a Supervising Social Worker within Synergy Fostering.
  • Keep up to date electronic files of foster carers and send copies of reports, relevant information or documents to the carer.
  • Inform/liaise with child’s Social Worker with regard to progress of placement and foster carer’s views.
  • Take part in ascertaining areas of work that need to be addressed in placement and carry out agreed tasks, ensuring the carers carries out their specified tasks.
  • During supervision sessions ascertain the views and feelings of the child/young person in relation to the placement and their relationship with the carer and their family.
  • Encouraging good working together partnerships between the carer, child’s social worker and the Agency.
  • Supervising Social Worker will from time to time as directed by the Registered Manager undertake a review of the outcomes for a child in placement. This review will be documented and evidenced in Charms.

Requirements of this Supervising Social Worker role:

  • A professional Social Work qualification or equivalent.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation.
  • Registered or eligible for registration.
  • Have a good working knowledge of the relevant legislation.
