The salary for this permanent Superintendent Mammographer job is £60,000 per annum.

Main Duties:

  • Oversee all operations within the Breast Department.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to colleagues.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment to enhance patient care and staff satisfaction.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of breast imaging equipment.
  • Establish and uphold quality control procedures to meet industry and regulatory standards.
  • Review and assess breast imaging for accuracy and quality assurance.
  • Conduct breast imaging examinations and deliver compassionate patient care.
  • Explain procedures, address patient inquiries, and alleviate concerns.
  • Prioritise patient safety and comfort throughout examinations.
  • Stay updated on relevant regulations and guidelines concerning breast imaging services, including FDA and ACR requirements.
  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations within the Breast Department.
  • Manage inventory and supplies for breast imaging services.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repairs of breast imaging equipment.
  • Recommend equipment upgrades and enhancements as necessary.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop and promote breast cancer screening initiatives.
  • Educate the community on the importance of early detection through breast imaging.
  • Participate in outreach and educational campaigns.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and departmental documentation.
  • Prepare and submit reports on departmental performance and quality assurance activities.

Requirements of the Superintendent Mammographer:

  • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or a related discipline.
  • Certification in Mammography.
  • Registration with HCPC.
  • Demonstrated experience of at least 5 years in breast imaging, preferably with leadership or supervisory background.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication proficiencies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of regulatory standards and quality assurance practices within breast imaging.
  • Firm commitment to delivering superior patient care and upholding safety standards.
  • Ability to excel within a smaller departmental environment.
