Sanctuary Personnel is currently seeking a Substance Misuse Prison Link Worker to join our client's dynamic team.

Service Overview:

They deliver Commissioned Rehabilitative Services (CRS) for HMPPS, encompassing Accommodation, Dependency and Recovery, and Personal Wellbeing. Their services are spread across various regions, with Dependency and Recovery Services in London, Yorkshire, and The Humber.

Role Overview:

As a Prison Link Worker in the Dependency and Recovery Services, you will operate within a flexible, multi-disciplinary team across multiple sites, primarily in custodial settings in London, with some community-based work. You will be the primary point of contact within the prison, collaborating with substance misuse and healthcare teams to support individuals transitioning from prison to the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support individuals in prison before their release by building and maintaining relationships to ensure continued engagement post-release.
  • Develop and maintain robust post-release pathways into community substance misuse services.
  • Conduct risk and comprehensive assessments, and create collaborative action plans.
  • Provide meet-and-greet services and enhanced support for releases with a history of non-engagement.
  • Deliver one-to-one sessions and group work both face-to-face and virtually.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on the Refer and Monitor system.
  • Liaise with various stakeholders to ensure clients have access to necessary support services post-release.
  • Promote the service and provide addiction education and harm reduction information where appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with service level agreements and performance targets.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, multi-disciplinary reviews, and supervision sessions.

Requirements:

  • Thorough understanding of the needs of clients within custody and those engaged in Criminal Justice services.
  • Experience managing high caseloads, conducting risk assessments, and maintaining effective case records.
  • Experience delivering one-to-one and group work interventions using motivational and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Ability to set professional boundaries and work effectively with key partners.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills to meet targets.
  • Understanding of equal opportunity principles, GDPR requirements, and client confidentiality.
  • Strong communication skills with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • A full driving licence and access to a car.
  • Relevant qualification in substance misuse or comparable experience.
  • Desirable: Personal experience of addiction/imprisonment, experience in providing counselling services, and knowledge of the 12-step recovery process.

Additional Information:

  • This role is primarily Monday - Friday, 09:00 am - 17:00 pm, with some flexibility required.
