Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Social Worker within the Referral & Assessment Team to work full time based in Bexley.
The salary for this permanent Social Worker job is up to £46,551 per annum.
Main duties:
- To investigate complaints of alleged neglect, abuse or ill treatment of children, undertake assessments and where appropriate arrange accommodation for children and young people.
- To assess Children and their Families who may require a Social Work Service and investigate reports that children are suffering or are likely to suffer harm.
- To draw up plans with and for individual children and their families (including plans for service provision to children in need, plans for protection of children, and care plans for looked after children).
- To undertake preventative work with families in order to reduce the need for care or accommodation.
- To work with children and young people families, carers and communities to help them make informed decisions, enabling them to clarify and express their needs and contribute to service planning.
- To work closely with colleagues across the Council and external agencies in order to gather information relevant to assessment and care planning activities.
- To make recommendations to the Team Leader and others about the need for legal action in respect of a child and about use of resources.
- To act as named keyworker and implement agreed plans for the protection of children, care of children and service provision and to monitor and review those plans.
- To maintain and update case notes and other records, as required.
- To attend court and give evidence in relation to care proceedings.
- To carry out these duties in accordance with legal requirements and Bexley procedures, and advise managers in advance where this is likely to be difficult to achieve.
- To ensure that Borough resources including social work time) are used economically, effectively and efficiently and to alert supervisors to any shortfall in resources.
- To prepare reports for, attend and contribute to case conferences, reviews and other meetings as necessary.
- To attend supervision and act upon advice and agreed action.
- To take responsibility for their own and colleagues welfare by identifying, acknowledging and discussing the stresses of the work and by ensuring that they themselves and colleagues are not exposed to unnecessary risk of violence.
- To attend training and keep abreast of new research, guidance and law; to use what has been learned in practice, and to participate in initiatives to review and improve social work practice and service delivery within the team.
- To undertake other duties as directed by the Unit Manager or required by the department.
Requirements of this role:
- Social work qualification with registration with Social Work England.
- Experience in managing social work caseloads and supervising others.
- Experience of community and/or group work.
- Knowledge of children’s health and social care systems, agencies, and relevant legislation.
