Sanctuary Personnel are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to work with Southwark council. This is a full-time position, and we are paying £34.74 Paye and £45 Umbrella per hour for this role.

The role:

The post holder is to actively oversee and assure compliance with the requirements for the Building Safety Act 2022, Fire Safety Act 2021, and associated statutory building safety management systems required to deliver the building control service.

The post holder is responsible for providing specialist structural engineer expertise building control applications.

To deliver an efficient and high-quality service in relation to all technical tasks on building control applications; building control enforcement; quality assurance; corporate enquiries and financial support. To deliver a customer focused service that maintains the market share.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead on providing specialist structural engineering advice on building control applications to ensure that all procedures in force are followed and operating smoothly to establish and maintain a high standard of service. This includes scheduling to ensure decisions are made within 8-week, clear communications with the customer and Building Control team, and escalation to the Group Manager when there are issues that require review.

Organise and manage the processing of structural engineering advice for building control and related applications, building control enforcement investigations, corporate enquiries according to statutory and departmental requirements and policies.

Review data systems related to the building safety programme to identify, recommend and influence both the rate of investment and efficiencies in relation to system weaknesses, process gaps and opportunities for further improvement of existing systems (including Uniform) and/or embedding new IT solutions (including Modern Data Platform).

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: GCSEs A-C or equivalent including at least English and Maths.
    Educated to A Level standard or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 2+ years working within a similar role. 
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 36 hours p/w.
