Main Duties:

  • Strength-Based Problem Solving: Apply a strength-based approach to problem-solving, working collaboratively with individuals to connect them to their community and social networks.
  • Person-Centred Planning: Collaborate with individuals, advocates, and carers to develop person-centred plans that meet needs while promoting independence, choice, and control, ensuring plans are legal and affordable.
  • Mental Capacity Act Compliance: Act in the best interests of individuals lacking mental capacity, applying the principles of the Mental Capacity Act (2005) to ensure their safety until they regain capacity or alternative arrangements are made.
  • Legislative and Policy Framework: Work within the legislative framework, adhering to national and local policies, and upholding the philosophy of social work practice.
  • Accurate Documentation and Information Sharing: Document all work and share information in accordance with relevant legislation, local policies, and procedures.
  • Safeguarding Responsibilities: Participate in the Duty Safeguarding Manager rota, ensuring timely and effective safeguarding assessments and planning.
  • Legal Reporting: Prepare reports for legal proceedings, such as Court of Protection applications, where appropriate.
  • Supervision and Appraisal: Engage actively in your own supervision and appraisal, and supervise and appraise allocated staff in line with departmental supervision and council appraisal policies.
  • Professional Accountability: Be professionally accountable for your work, providing appropriate support and challenge to staff, promoting continuous professional development and evidence-based practice, and ensuring attendance at mandatory and specialist training where necessary.

Requirements of the Social Worker:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Significant frontline experience in Adults Services within the UK
