Purpose of the Role:

  • The main goal of this role is to deliver high-quality social work services to vulnerable children in care, as well as their families and carers, in compliance with statutory laws, Council guidelines, and departmental policy.
  • As a Senior Social Worker, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding and supporting children in need, including those involved in family proceedings and looked-after children.


What you will do:

  • Effectively manage a caseload suitable for your level of qualification and experience, ensuring the delivery of tailored social work plans for families and children.
  • Uphold professionalism in accordance with the Social Work England Code of Practice and Professional Standards, maintaining adherence to ethical guidelines.
  • Regularly monitor and reassess care packages to respond to changing needs swiftly and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with multiple agencies to provide a coordinated response that meets the assessed needs of children and families.
  • Utilize evidence-based social work strategies to achieve objectives set with service users and team management.
  • Conduct direct interventions with children, young people, and their carers, promoting resilience and reducing dependency on services.
  • Take appropriate statutory action to ensure the safety or liberty of children, especially in emergency situations, in collaboration with the Team Manager.
  • Prepare in-depth reports and submissions to Family Courts, representing Children's Services as required.
  • Perform functions related to children in need and looked-after children, advocating for them in a variety of settings, such as courts and statutory panels.
  • Keep detailed, accurate records and reports of interactions with children and families, complying with statutory requirements and timescales.
  • Participate in multi-agency reviews and panels to aid professional development and enhance service delivery.
  • Provide comprehensive guidance on available local services relevant to working with children and families.
  • At an Advanced Social Worker level, manage highly complex cases and offer leadership in good practice, contributing to service standards and development.
  • Oversee staff induction and professional development, including mentoring and supervision, ensuring high standards across the team.


Requirements:

  • Candidates must have experience working as a qualified social worker, managing caseloads independently, and engaging effectively with vulnerable families and a range of professionals.
  • Essential qualifications include a recognised social work degree and registration with Social Work England.
  • Completion of an ASYE programme or equivalent, along with experience in complex case management and effective multi-agency collaboration, is necessary.
