About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Inclusion Officer (SEND) to play a key role in supporting children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their families. Acting as the lead contact for Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) activity, you will be instrumental in shaping inclusive education and ensuring positive outcomes for CYP with SEND.
Key Responsibilities
- Early Identification & Support: Promote the early identification of children and young people with SEND in line with early support principles.
- Advisory Role: Provide expert advice to colleagues and settings on enhancing inclusion support within mainstream and universal settings.
- Partnerships: Work closely with schools, services, and other settings to secure the best outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
- Family & Professional Support: Offer guidance to families and professionals on SEND-related matters, including statutory assessment applications and EHCP reviews.
- Strategic Input: Support managers with budget analysis, strategic planning, and commissioning decisions.
- Training & Development: Lead on developing and delivering training programmes to enhance inclusive practices, aligned with government initiatives and identified needs.
- First Point of Contact: Act as the primary contact for families, professionals, and solicitors regarding SEND concerns, information requests, and complaints.
- Resource Allocation: Apply criteria and systems for personal budgets and service provisions, ensuring alignment with legislative frameworks for children’s and adult social care.
- Performance Excellence: Understand and deliver departmental priorities, striving to meet or exceed Key Performance Indicators.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in a similar role, with expertise in SEND and EHCP processes.
- Strong understanding of early support principles and inclusive practices.
- Ability to build positive relationships with families, professionals, and settings.
- Strategic thinking and ability to support budget planning and resource allocation.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
