Pay Rate: £500 per day
Hours: Locum 3 month contract (Monday – Friday from 9am – 5pm)
Main Duties of the SEND Consultant:
- Review and improve the Local Authority’s approach to funding specialist provision.
- Collaborate with schools and multi-academy trusts (MATs) to deliver new specialist places in mainstream settings for children and young people with SEND.
- Work with internal staff and external stakeholders to:
- Identify issues in the current SEND financial system.
- Develop and implement new processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Lead transformation efforts to improve the funding model.
- Manage and oversee operations to:
- Identify opportunities for new specialist places.
- Negotiate funding agreements, delivery timelines, and specifications with schools/MATs.
- Work alongside the Head of Capital Projects/Capital Programme Manager to ensure:
- New specialist places are delivered on time.
- Quality standards are met as agreed with schools/MATs.
- Report to the Director of Education and Skills, leading required changes to SEND funding processes.
- Ensure SEND funding systems are robust, accurate, and efficient.
- Oversee negotiation and funding arrangements for new SEND places in mainstream settings.
Requirements of the SEND Consultant:
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of a 2:2 grade or higher.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience in a similar role.
- Must provide proof of eligibility to work in the UK, a valid DBS, and references covering the past 3 years.
- A clean UK driving licence and the ability to commute independently.
