Sanctuary Personnel is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Science Teacher to join our client, a prestigious school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons across Key Stages (KS3, KS4, and potentially KS5) in subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.
- Develop lesson plans aligned with the national curriculum.
- Use a variety of teaching methods to cater to different learning styles.
- Assess students' progress through homework, tests, exams, and projects.
- Provide feedback to students, parents, and colleagues regarding student performance.
- Prepare students for national assessments like GCSEs and A-levels.
- Maintain discipline in the classroom, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment.
- Manage classroom behavior according to school policies.
- Provide extra help to students who are struggling and support those with special educational needs (SEN).
- Encourage students' curiosity and interest in science through practical work, experiments, and fieldwork.
- Manage and use laboratory equipment safely.
- Integrate technology, such as interactive whiteboards and online resources, to enhance learning.
- Attend training sessions, workshops, and continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities.
- Keep up to date with new scientific developments and teaching practices.
Requirements of the Science Teacher:
- Undergraduate Degree
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- School Direct or Teach First
- Undergraduate Path
- Work Experience: Experience in working with young people, such as through voluntary roles or as a teaching assistant, is often beneficial before applying for teacher training.
- Enhanced DBS Check: All teachers are required to undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to ensure they are suitable to work with children.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Patience and adaptability in managing diverse learning needs.
- Ongoing Professional Development: Once qualified, teachers are encouraged to engage in professional development to improve their teaching skills and keep up to date with changes in curriculum and science education.
