Sanctuary Personnel is currently seeking an experienced Band 7 Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to take on a new locum opportunity based in Greater London, to work as a Specialist CAMHS Practitioner within the Learning Disabilities.

Location: Hillingdon

Contract Type: Locum, ongoing block booking.

Pay Rate: £31.81 per hour (assignment rate)

Main Duties:

  • Comprehensive Assessments

    • Conduct detailed specialist assessments, including risk assessments, for children, young people, and their families/carers dealing with moderate to severe mental health challenges and behaviours that impact others, using the Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework.
    • Utilise various assessment tools such as observations, standard measures, questionnaires, direct interactions with parents and professionals, and interviews to gather data for functional analysis assessments.
  • Intervention & Behaviour Support Planning

    • Develop and implement positive behaviour support plans and interventions in collaboration with other agencies supporting the child/young person.
    • Communicate assessment outcomes, PBS formulations, and behaviour support plans sensitively to parents, carers, and professionals involved.
  • Group Facilitation

    • Lead and co-facilitate psycho-educational and therapeutic groups using the PBS framework, with support from assistant psychologists or team leaders.
    • Regularly evaluate the impact and effectiveness of interventions, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Report Writing & Documentation

    • Prepare confidential behavioural support plans and detailed reports for case conferences and educational settings, often with significant implications for the child or young person and their family.
    • Maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical records, ensuring patient data is properly recorded in local systems like System 1 and trust-wide databases.
  • Urgent Assessments & Interventions

    • Be available for urgent assessments when required, delivering interventions in various environments, such as schools, clinics, homes, and the community.
    • Conduct additional psychological or diagnostic assessments (e.g., Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-2, cognitive assessments) when necessary.

Requirements of the Registered Mental Health Nurse:

  • Degree or equivalent in Mental Health Nursing
  • Proven experience as a Registered Mental Health Nurse
  • Valid NMC Registration
