Pharmacy Technician Pay Rate: £17 - £20 per hour (assignment rate)

Duties of the Pharmacy Technician:

  • Dispensing of medicines within inpatient pharmacy department.
  • Final accuracy checking of medicines following local competency process.
  • Reception of items to pharmacy from variety of sources.
  • Handling of questions relating to medicines and medicine use to stakeholders within professional limitations.
  • Role will have responsibility for co-ordinating work coming to service from community services based that are based remotely. The person must be capable of communicating effectively between the community services teams and the inpatient service to ensure this work is handled efficiently.
  • Deputising for the dispensary manager or other senior dispensary technicians on temporary basis if required. 
  • Competence with clinical systems relevant to pharmacy.

Requirements of the Pharmacy Technician:

  • GPHC Registration
  • Previous experience within a UK based Pharmacy setting
  • NVQ or equivalent – Pharmacy Technician qualification
  • Requires ACCPT checking accreditation or equivalent
