Sanctuary Personnel is currently seeking an Occupational Therapist to join our client's dynamic team.

Main Purpose

To work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing occupational therapy within their neurobehavioural model to individuals with acquired brain injury (ABI). You will liaise with internal and external professionals, family members, and the individuals they support.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Clinical / Professional Practice

  • Operate within a specialist clinical area as an autonomous professional, utilising and developing skills in neurological rehabilitation with guidance from a senior OT. Accept professional accountability and responsibility.
  • Manage and prioritise a caseload of individuals with complex mental/physical health needs and/or challenging behaviour, with supervision from a senior OT.
  • Complete the OT process using evidence-based, service user-centred principles to assess, formulate treatment plans, implement, and evaluate interventions.
  • Address occupational performance and skill deficits, enabling service users in areas of self-maintenance, productivity, education, and leisure.
  • Develop programmes of care, ensure detailed handover to rehabilitation support workers or therapy assistants, monitor progress, evaluate, and modify treatments to ensure effectiveness according to the neurobehavioural model.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately, taking responsibility for handover, monitoring, and review.
  • Use interpersonal skills and empathy to engage service users and families who may be resistant to the rehabilitation process or distressed.
  • Conduct detailed risk assessments, ensuring regular reviews and effective communication with the team.

Leadership

  • Manage a designated workload with supervision from a senior OT, identifying priorities and managing time and resources effectively.
  • Recognise, report, and improve performance and practice of self and others.
  • Support and challenge others to maintain health, safety, and security at work, reporting actual or potential problems and suggesting solutions.
  • Understand and work within the political and economic climate impacting service delivery, with supervision from a senior OT.
  • Promote the profession and organisation, developing partnerships across organisational and agency boundaries.
  • Contribute to clinical governance and quality agenda, including attendance at organisation-wide OT meetings and implementing agreed outcome measures.

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent within Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registration
  • Previous UK Occupational Therapy experience
