An exceptional opportunity awaits a dynamic and driven HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with a proven track record in senior BMS positions. Your adeptness in communication and personnel management, coupled with extensive Cellular Pathology experience, will be instrumental in driving success within our client's innovative team.

This role is pivotal as part of their Backlogs division, currently undergoing a transformative digital integration. Backlogs, a rapidly expanding entity and a subsidiary of a prominent healthcare organisation, is revolutionising remote cellular pathology reporting services for NHS Hospitals. With a network spanning over 40 Trusts and supported by a cadre of 110 Consultants nationwide, Backlogs is poised for significant growth.

In 2024, Backlogs is set to launch an end-to-end digital cellular pathology reporting platform, with plans for a laboratory inauguration in Cambridgeshire later in the year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to implement digital strategies, particularly in St Ives, encompassing scanning service development, training initiatives, and quality assurance of scanned reports.
  • Ensure adherence to accreditation standards such as ISO 15189:2022, and other regulatory frameworks, by establishing and maintaining comprehensive policy and procedural documentation.
  • Work closely with the Technical Services Manager to uphold report quality standards, and facilitate inquiries and audits as necessary.
  • Contribute to the setup and oversight of operations at the new laboratory in St Ives.
  • Support the organisation's training programme aimed at staff development.
  • Prepare and furnish documents and reports, offering concise summaries of progress and outcomes for the Management Team.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate level qualification equivalent to MSc in Cell Path
  • Current HCPC registration
  • Demonstrable experience in a diagnostic Cell Path laboratory
  • Exceptional communication skills
