Duties:
- Conduct assessments and make decisions under the Mental Health Act 1983
- Act as a key member of the Mental Health Act assessment team, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and best practice guidelines
- Collaborate with individuals, families, carers, and relevant professionals to formulate care plans and provide appropriate support
- Advocate for the rights and preferences of individuals within the legal framework
- Provide crisis intervention and support to individuals experiencing mental health crises
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, decisions, and interventions
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to the development of holistic care plans
- Keep abreast of changes in mental health legislation and participate in ongoing professional development activities
- Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and may require participation in on-call duties
Requirements of the AMHP:
- AMHP Trained and qualified
- Approved Mental Health Professional status
- Needs to have extensive experience
- Registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., Social Work England)
- Demonstrated experience working within a mental health setting, in a statutory mental health service
- Strong understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and associated legislation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and teams
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and in complex situations
- Commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of individuals with mental health needs
- Enhanced DBS
