Location: Westminster

Pay Rate: £40 per hour (assignment rate)

Contract: Locum, 3-Months

Hours: Full-time, 36 hours per week

Duties:

  • Conduct assessments and make decisions under the Mental Health Act 1983
  • Act as a key member of the Mental Health Act assessment team, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and best practice guidelines
  • Collaborate with individuals, families, carers, and relevant professionals to formulate care plans and provide appropriate support
  • Advocate for the rights and preferences of individuals within the legal framework
  • Provide crisis intervention and support to individuals experiencing mental health crises
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, decisions, and interventions
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to the development of holistic care plans
  • Keep abreast of changes in mental health legislation and participate in ongoing professional development activities
  • Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and may require participation in on-call duties

Requirements of the AMHP:

  • AMHP Trained and qualified
  • Approved Mental Health Professional status
  • Needs to have extensive experience
  • Registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., Social Work England)
  • Demonstrated experience working within a mental health setting, in a statutory mental health service
  • Strong understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and associated legislation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and teams
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and in complex situations
  • Commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of individuals with mental health needs
  • Enhanced DBS
