What you will do:
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with children, young people, and their families through direct casework, supervision, shared activities, and counselling.
- Provide services that meet primary needs, promote development, and assist in managing behavioural difficulties and vulnerabilities.
- Identify and assess risk of abuse, failure to protect, or harm to children and take appropriate action.
- Keep senior managers informed about any concerns regarding children or young people, particularly those at risk of abuse or harm.
- Contribute ideas for good practice, take a lead in special areas of responsibility, and challenge discrimination and injustice.
- Maximise available financial and material resources for service users and carers, while ensuring value for money in care packages.
- Educate service users and carers about the Department's Complaints procedures.
- Manage child protection cases effectively.
- Stay informed about local cultural, health, and social changes to inform practice and service provision.
- Provide verbal and written information for care planning and assessment purpose.
- Lead and participate actively in case conferences, planning meetings, and inter-agency discussions.
- Represent service users and the department/team at various meetings and conferences as required.
- Attend child protection meetings and appropriately challenge decisions that may not meet service users' needs.
