Main purpose of the role:
- The LSCP Strategic Safeguarding Coordinator working to the Lead directly, will jointly lead on the delivery of the operations of the Safeguarding Children Partnership, including manage the LSCP strategic business planning processes and ensure the operation of the LSCP, the Executive Partnership and sub/task groups.
- The coordinator will help to ensure that the partnership maintains high service standards and development to promote good outcomes for safeguarding children.
- The main purpose of the post is to jointly develop and deliver the LSCP strategic priorities and to lead partners to embed the new multi-agency practice standards outlined in Working Together 2023 and the DfE Pathfinder
Main duties/responsibilities:
- Develop and manage the LSCP’s relationships with a wide range of senior stakeholders, including directors and chief executives in partner organisations, at borough, regional and national levels.
- Working in conjunction with the Partnership Chair to develop, and keep under review robust governance arrangements with all members of the Partnership which will ensure delivery of the duties and functions described in Working Together to Safeguard Children.
- Co-ordinate and promote high level communication, joint planning and multi-agency projects, and implementation of strategic plans between LSCP member organisations and other strategic partner agencies.
- Ensuring partnership standards are appropriate, clear and communicated.
- Lead on agreed partnership developments in response to national and local initiatives.
- Act as partnership lead for the rollout of learning from different forms of learning reviews such as child safeguarding practice reviews.
- Lead on the development, promotion and communication of procedures, protocols and guidance for the partnership.
- Have oversight, organise, co-ordinate and provide analysis of the LSCP strategic priorities which includes our subgroups
- Oversee and make recommendations to the LSCP, Executive Partnership and task groups on objectives, work planning, policies and resource allocation.
- Co-ordinate and promote high level communication, joint planning and multi-agency projects, and implementation of strategic plans between LSCP member organisations and other strategic partner agencies.
- Contribute to the development of close collaboration between respective partners agencies within the LSCP to develop consistency of practice and management.
Requirements of the LSCP Strategic Safeguarding Coordinator:
- Recent UK experience in Children's Services
- Recent experience working as a Care Coordinator
- Substantial management experience of social care services for children or similar in Social Services or Health
- Knowledge and understanding of the range of service development and policy issues which arise from the current and impending developments in the safeguarding of children, across all statutory agencies
- In depth knowledge and understanding of the responsibilities of LSCP and relevant research or guidance about LSCPs
- An in-depth knowledge of all the relevant and up to date legislation
- Experience of drafting or contributing to the development of inter-agency protocols, which take account of the views of children and their carers. S
- Experience of managing and supervising staff.
